BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY

The Blue Ridge Parkwayconsists of 469 miles of some of the most beautiful country ever created. It starts at Shenandoah, Virginia, and ends at the eastern entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near Maggie Valley, North Carolina.  This link takes you on a mile-by-mile review of the Parkway, tells of scenery, ranger stations, food, on-Parkway attractions, etc. along its many miles. It's loaded with useful information for the traveller, and is a must if you plan to do it all. Remember,there are no service stations on the Parkway, so keep an eye on your gas tank. 

If you decide to break your trip for a day in Maggie Valley, please note that the Abbey Inn is the first motel off the Soco Gap exit towards Maggie Valley, at mile marker 455.7.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is 469 miles long.  It starts in the Shenandoah National Forest and snakes its way through Viriginia and North Carolina. It ends at the Oconaluftee Visitors Center just outside Cherokee, at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Contrary to popular belief, none of the Parkway is in TN.
