MOUNTAINEER TALK

The Mountain Folk have their own way of doing many things, including talking. Things don't always mean what they sound like with us, so if you're planning that first time trip, you might want to read this list and familiarize yourself. Remember it's in fun, so enjoy it!

Gander - to look at - "Do you want to take a gander at this?"

Mow - Another helping - "Gimme some mow a' them there beans."

Fow - The number that comes after three.

Fur Piece - A long distance - "I still got a fur piece to go."

Onliest - The only one - "This here is my onliest dog."

Poe - Not rich.

Crick - a small body of running water - "This here is Disputed Branch crick."

Runt - Not good anymore - "You runt this soup with too much salt."

Tar - Tire - "My car has a flat tar."

Bus - Chop - "I gotta bus all this wood today."

Law - Cal the police - "If you don't leave me alone, I'm gonna law ya."
