There are numerous hiking, backpacking, and biking trails within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.   Some are short and easy, some are long and difficult.  Some can be hiked in an hour, others take days.  The Chimneys, which is an area about an hour's drive from Maggie Valley and the Abbey Innis a nice family hike where you can take a picnic lunch for after your walk.  And of course, there is Mount LeConte, which will challenge you for several days. Read about them all in this most informative and comprehensive guide. Remember to always keep an eye out, there is lots of wildlife roaming around; fox, wolves, deer, and the bears which are often seen during early morning and dusk.  Of course, you can always see it all it from hoseback at Elkmont, in the North Carolina section of the Park.

If you're an avid fly fisherman, there are plenty of rainbow trout in the many streams and creeks of the National Park.

Graveyard Fields Falls is one of many waterfalls to be found on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the area surrounding it.  Looking Glass Falls is on Hwy. 276 just off the Parkway and is very easily accessible.  Laurel Falls in on off Little River Road on the way to Cades Cove, and can be reached by a mile long paved hike.  Every one of them is worth the trip.
